HiGHS team visits us at EMD!
Last week, the HiGHS team from The University of Edinburgh visited us at EMD!
HiGHS is an open-source software that helps in solving different types of mathematical problems, such as linear programming (LP), mixed-integer programming (MIP), and convex quadratic programming (QP).
The HiGHS solver is already used in our tools energyTRADE and energyPRO to find the best operation plan based on specific conditions. Furthermore, it is used in the HYBRID module in windPRO.
On Tuesday, our team and the HiGHS team visited a Danish District Energy Plant (Brønderslev) to see how energyTRADE is used to plan daily production.
The following day, we discussed ways to make the MIP solver more efficient for EMD’s software users. The MIP problems will be modelled directly in our energy system analysis tool energyPRO, making it possible to measure HiGHS improvements compared to the commercial Gurobi-solver.
A big thank you to the HiGHS development team for taking the time to visit us and for the insightful and productive discussions during the workshop!
We truly appreciate your expertise and look forward to further collaboration in the future.
